"Thunderslush"

  • Yesterday I encountered a thunderstorm in the Jemez Mountains and Valles Caldera of Northern New Mexico that, along with heavy bursts of rain and frequent CG lightning, also produced big, wet slushy snowflakes. More here, including a couple pics:

  • Wow, that's pretty cool.

Those mountain storms can be very interesting. Last week while near the Capulin Volcano in NM, we watched a few cells move in with dense rainshafts. Driving through one of them dropped the temp from the 60s, to the mid 40s in a very short amount of time. We were hoping for some wet flakes, or even a few snow pellets, but it was all liquid.

    Very nice shots!
