I just bought a xbox 360 and i wanted to know how would i connect to xbox live.?
It depends, is your Xbox 360 hooked up straight to the modem? Or is it through a router? If it's hooked up through a router, you may need to verify that the modem is even working correctly using a computer.
Or it could be that you're rushing the system. Sometimes it just needs a good rest to gather all of the account info, arrange the new ISP's and then get back in the swing of things.
Did you do a hard start? Unplug everything from the wall, not just shut it down.
You could Power-Cycle your system. It's the same as a hard start, but it takes patience.
Unplug everything from the walls, then wait 30 full seconds, plug everything back in from modem -> router -> computer -> Xbox 360, then wait a complete 3 minutes before turning anything on.
It could be that you have a crap cable, if it's cheap or old, that could compromise the cord. Or if the connectors just got loose.
If any of this doesn't help call the support line for your modem, router, ISP, then finally call Xbox support @ (800) 469-9269 [(800) 4my-xbox]
How to join Xbox LIVE:
Just connect your Xbox 360 to the Internet, and buy an Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription card.
You can buy the Gold membership card either at a retail store or put it on your credit card. The Gold membership credit card payment methods are: $7/month, $20/3 months, or $50/year.
When you start up the Xbox, go to the "Xbox Dashboard", go to the Xbox LIVE blade (second from the left), Select "Join Xbox LIVE" and follow the instructions.
If you don't have a hot-mail account, or an account with Passport.Net, you'll need to establish one; you can do that on your Xbox during the Xbox LIVE registering procedure.
reset modem no good then wait about 30 mins and everything back to normal
