Go with an LCD or Plasma TV?

  • We're struggling which we should pick...we like the clarity of the plasma so much more but we've been told by many people that more things can go wrong w/ a plasma, they use up a ton of energy, etc. Anyone have any advice?


  • Go with LCD all the way. Here's why you should go with LCD rather than plasma:

    1.) Less heat
    2.) Uses Less energery
    3.) Weighs less
    4.) More choices, brands, size and variety


  • 1. Price- LCD televisions typically are cheaper than Plasmas are.

    2. Picture- LCD televisions are catching up on the quality of plasmas very quickly. LCD televisions tend to have motion blur, which is not good for video games or watching sports. Plasma televisions show very rich colors, such as their ability to show almost perfect black. Plasmas take the prize for best picture quality.

    3. Value- Plasma televisions tend to have more problems, consume more energy and have a lot shorter life span than LCD televisions do. LCD televisions live for a long time, and also they are much lighter and easier to install, and they come in a much wider range of sizes and can be much bigger than the maximum for a plasma.

    I would urge you to go for the LCD television.

  • It depends on the lighting of the room, if it's dark then get Plasma but if there's sunlight you might want to get LCD because no glare
